I have almost 4Gb of free space now! let's see if that can be improved!

I need one of these!

1Tb NAS Drive... I really need one... now that I am taking RAW pictures all the time I am quite desperate for hard disk space... last vacations, 4 Days, 17Gb (!) of photos! DAMN...

Dell mini 9 running Windows 7

I installed it... 0.5Gb left on my 8Gb SSD... fear...

Removed some stuff and need to remove more 1.2Gb free... still short I think.
But this OS is really worth it!

Dell Mini 9

I bought one of these beauties! In order to not lose track of what I did, I am keeping track online.

As soon as I booted up, got the not charging problem.
  • flashed latest BIOS A04
  • Installed ubuntu 8.10
  • download latest aircraft application from dell
  • enable and disable the aircraft mode to get battery charging
  • the FN method did not work
First thing after installing ubuntu 8.10 - no sound
  • sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
  • options snd-hda-intel model=dell

Got a 2Gb dimm to boost memory, and reading about it I realize that ubuntu bundled with the laptop has kernel capped to 1Gb, so that is out of the picture.

After that power consumption... That need addressing with ubuntu 8.10, so:
  • install powertop and tweak most of what it suggest - don't do the suspend usb thing, remember it is not persistent.
  • make sure the laptop mode is 5! (/proc/sys/vm/laptop_mode -> 5)
  • This page is the best https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne

I did it!

I did it! I opened my ipod nano, took the old bat out and solder the new one! Awesome! It improved a lot! And it has 21% more power than the old one. Just £2,5 and my ipod is better than new!
