RIP Keith Tippett (1947-2020).

Here is a treasured album: The Keith Tippett Group : "Dedicated To You But You Weren´t Listening" (Vertigo 1971).

"On January 29th 2020, as part of Celtic Connections, a large group of musicians led by Raymond Macdonald, Matt Brennan and Malcolm Benzie performed at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, an event called 'Return to Y'Hup: The World of Ivor Cutler'. The concert was a celebration of the work of Ivor Cutler, as well as an official launch of the album of the same name.
The plan was to make a short documentary about the evening overall but the current pandemic brought a halt to further filming. I aim to complete it as soon as possible but in the meantime, this is a short, single song film that hopefully gives a flavour of the event, an extraordinary performance by Heather Leigh." September 17th (2020) Faber will publish Side by Side, the collected lyrics, poems, writings and drawings of Robert and Alfie. Looking forward to that one!

Hugh Hopper

We should have celebrated Hugh Hopper´s 75th birthday yesterday, but let´s just re-watch a video of Soft Machine live in Belgium 1971, and note that Phil Howitt is writing a Hopper biography to be published in late 2021 or early 2022 called "Dedicated To You But You Weren’t Listening – the musical journey of Hugh Hopper" (Jazz in Britain).
