Critical Software has picked up a 2% stake in iParque’s capital

Coimbra, 9th July 2008 – Critical Software has become an iParque's shareholder by picking up a 2% stake in Coimbra Inovação Parque's capital. Although in the short term the company expects to keep its headquarters in Parque Industrial de Taveiro, where it is currently expanding its infrastructure, Critical recognizes the importance of a structuring project such as the iParque, for the ultimate transformation of Coimbra as an excellence knowledge centre in Europe. It also recognizes the importance of such project for its strategic development in the medium and long-term.

"We want to be associated with projects that effectively contribute to uphold the establishment of scientific and technological based companies in Coimbra, thereby promoting innovation and helping to attract knowledge sharing networks and skilled workers to the city" says Gonçalo Quadros, Critical Software's CEO. "Critical Software is proud to be able to contribute for yet one more project that confirms the city of Coimbra as a reference knowledge centre in the country and in Europe".

iParque, the technology park that is being created in Antanhol, aims to develop and modernize business in Coimbra and its region through activities that concern promotion, creation and installation of companies with high technological content, consulting and training geared towards innovation in experimental development and incorporation of new technologies.

Critical Software's stake in iParque adds up to the already announced University of Coimbra's participation with a 5% stake, and will be ratified at the next General Assembly of Coimbra's iParque, scheduled for July 29th, 2008.
