37th International İstanbul Music Festival ends
Renowned pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim and Italy's most prominent orchestra Filarmonica Della Scala was on stage on June 30, for the final concert of the 37th International İstanbul Music Festival.
İstanbul Music Festival's honorary guest Daniel Barenboim participated in a press conference on June 30, at The Marmara Hotel. The press conference began with Festival Director Yeşim Gürer Oymak's opening speech and continued with the moderation of journalist Yavuz Baydar. During the conference, Barenboim answered questions about his relation with music, his friendship with Edward Said, his dual citizenship of Palestine and Israel, and his position as an ambassador of peace between the two countries.
At a special ceremony held before the concert, Daniel Barenboim was presented the "Lifetime Achievement Award" of Istanbul Music Festival. Barenboim received his award from Chairman of İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, Şakir Eczacıbaşı.
Following the award ceremony, Daniel Barenboim was on stage with Filarmonica Della Scala, as both the conductor and the soloist. During the concert, Barenboim and La Scala performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.3 and Hector Berlioz' Fantastic Symphony.
