Curriculum Vitae

Eugénio C. Ferreira licenciou-se (1986) e doutorou-se (1995) em Engenharia Química pela Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto. Realizou trabalhos de investigação de pós-doutoramento no Departament d'Enginyeria Quimica da Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. Ingressou na Universidade do Minho em 1991 sendo, desde 2010, Professor Catedrático do Departamento de Engenharia Biológica (DEB). É, desde março de 2010, Vice-Presidente da Escola de Engenharia da Universidade do Minho, com o pelouro da Investigação. É investigador do Centro de Engenharia Biológica da Universidade do Minho e membro da Direcção do Instituto de Biotecnologia e Bioengenharia (Laboratório Associado), liderando um grupo de investigação em Engenharia de Sistemas e Bioprocessos - BioPSEg.deb.uminho.pt. A sua actividade de investigação tem sido focalizada no desenvolvimento e aplicação de metodologias de engenharia de sistemas (modelação, supervisão e controlo, análise de imagem) a processos biotecnológicos, químicos e ambientais. Lidera actualmente 3 projectos de investigação financiados pela Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia e Comissão Europeia. Foi Director-Adjunto do DEB de 2004 a 2010, Director dos cursos de Licenciatura em Engenharia Biológica (2001-2003) e de Mestrado em Gestão Ambiental (2005-2010). Mais recentemente colaborou no lançamento dos cursos de Mestrado em Bioinformática e de Doutoramento em Sistemas de Bioengenharia no âmbito do Programa MIT-Portugal, sendo membro da sua Comissão Directiva. É, desde 2010, Presidente do Conselho Nacional do Colégio de Engenharia Química e Biológica da Ordem dos Engenheiros, tendo sido Vogal deste Conselho para os triénios 2007-2009 e 2004-2006. É, desde 2004, Secretário-Geral da Sociedade Portuguesa de Biotecnologia. É membro do Comité Técnico em Biossistemas e Bioprocessos da Federação Internacional de Controlo Automático. Presidiu ou integrou mais de 10 Comissões Organizadoras e a mais de 30 Comissões Científicas de Congressos internacionais. Foi Director Editorial da revista “Engenharia Química – Indústria, Ciência e Tecnologia” (2006-2008). É avaliador habitual de cerca de 25 revistas científicas internacionais e membro do quadro editorial das revistas “Chemical Product and Process Modeling" e “Environmental Engineering and Management Journal”. Tem participado na avaliação de projectos de investigação e bolsas da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, da Agência de Inovação, da European Science Fundation e da Comissão Europeia. Orientou 6 teses de doutoramento, uma delas, vencedora em 2004 do Prémio CUF e 11 dissertações de mestrado, tendo em curso a orientação de 7 doutorandos. É autor/editor de 8 livros, autor de 100 artigos e capítulos de livros e mais de 225 artigos e comunicações em Congressos.
