The Consortium Erasmus Centre brings together the Polytechnic Institutes of Leiria, Coimbra, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Santarém and Tomar as well as a very relevant group of companies in the region and abroad.

Each Erasmus Consortium is the mark of its own institutional strategy, which is at the basis of the type of collaboration with companies and in the offer of internships for students. The work of the consortium fits within the 2020 strategy and a greater interaction with the corporate world.

INOV interships

Are you 29 years old or younger, at the time of your application? Do you hold a degree of licenciatura / MA duly accredited? Do you speak fluently more than one language? If you answered yes to all of the above, you are well on your way for a “Contact”.

IAESTE internships

IAESTE is the oldest student mobility for professional experience! It is truly a mobility program at the global level.

Since 1954, Portugal has exchanged over 5000 students under this program.

Since its foundation in 1948 at the Imperial College in London, IAESTE has facilitated the mobility of over 330,000 all over the world.

Vulcanus program

The Vulcanus program was born in 1997 in Japan and facilitates industrial internships for UE students. It starts in September and ends in August of the following year, in order to be flexible according to the academic school year of the students in the UE.

It comprehends:

  • 1 week seminar in Japan;
  • 4 months of and intensive / immersive course in Japanese;
  • 8 months of internship in a Japanese company.

Objectives

  • Study the advanced technologies employed by large Japanese companies.
  • Learn Japanese, understand and respect the Japanese culture and this way enrich the mobility period.
  • Prepare for future interactions with Japanese companies.

Eligibility:

The student needs to be:

  • A EU citizen
  • An engineering or science student in a European higher education institution, enrolled at least in the 1st year of a Masters degree at the time of registration *.
  • Present proof that she/he is registered in a higher education institution; this proof needs to be valid until at least 3 months before the start of the program.

* Computer Engineering, mechanical, chemical, industrial, electrical, electronics, biotechnology, physics, telecommunications, nuclear, civil, materials, ceramics, production systems …

Financial support

The program is funded by the EU-Japan action, by the Centre for Industrial Cooperation and by the hosting company. European students receive a scholarship (Yen 1,900,000), which covers travel costs and living expenses in Japan. They will not have to pay the course of Japanese or the seminar. Accommodation is free for the course, the seminar and the internship.

Selection criteria

Candidates will be selected according to the success of their academic career according to their academic tutors, their knowledge of written and spoken English, their motivation, their attitude towards the EU-Japan relations and the ease of adaptation to a different culture.
