When you book your hotel, choose locations close to the city centre, and opt for staying in areas or near sights such as: Rossio, Marquês de Pombal, Chiado, Restauradores, Jardim Zoologico (the Zoo), Praca d’ Espanha, Gulbenkian, Campo Pequeno. All are located at maximally 20 minutes away from the university campus.
Avoid Cascais, Costa da Caparica, Ericeira, Estoril, Sesimbra and Sintra. These are regions that are part of great Lisbon, and require 1 to 2 hours of travel (from university or the center). Inside the city, avoid places such as Pavilhão Atlântico, Oceanarium, Belem, Carcavelos, because traffic can get tight, and so these regions are at least 30 minutes away from university. All are beautiful sites for sightseeing though.
