What is it and how can I apply for Social Insertion Income (RSI)?

It is a support for individuals and poorest families, comprising: • an insertion contract to help them integrate socially and professionally; • the provision of money to meet their basic needs. The persons, to receive the Social Integration Income, celebrate and sign an insertion contract, which contains a set of duties and rights, with a view to their social and professional integration.
These are necessary for the entire household (applicant and other elements):
1. Having legal residence in Portugal.
Citizens outside the European Union, European Economic Area States
parties who have agreement on the free movement of persons in the European Union have →
to have legal residence in Portugal for at least one year.
Citizens of other countries → must have legal residence in Portugal for at
least three years (except for children under three years).
2. Be in severe economic hardship.
3. Sign and comply Insertion Agreement.
4. Have 18 years or older, unless:
  • are pregnant;
  • are married or living in a de facto union for more than two years;
  • have minor or disabled dependents that rely purely on aggregate family (i.e., that do not have their own income equal to or less than 70% the value of the RSI (€ 124.70);
  •  who have own income exceeding 70% of the RSI (€ 124.70).
5 -  Be registered at the Employment Service of the area where you live, if you are unemployed and fit
for work.
6 - To authorize the Social Security to access all relevant information for the assessment
the socio-economic situation (this statement is part of the form ask when the RSI).
7 - In situations where the applicant was unemployed on their own (without just
cause), may only require the provision of RSI one year after the date on which it was
unemployed.
8 - Do not lie in custody or is serving a prison sentence in establishment
prison.
9 -  Do not lie institutionalized in facilities financed by the state.
The applicant must provide the Social Security documents necessary to verify your financial and economic situation and that of family members.
 
Individuals or families who need support to improve their social and professional integration, which are in serious financial need and meet the other qualifying conditions may apply for RSI.
Living with family members who are working, are also entitled to the IHR since the sum of the monthly income of all household members is not equal to or greater than the maximum value of RSI, calculated according to the household composition.
The maximum RSI value is the sum of the following amounts for each household member:
  • The Holder - € 178.15 (100%) of the value of the RSI
  • For each adult individual - € 89.07 (50%) of the value of the RSI
  • For each minor individual - € 53.44 (30%) of the value of the RSI
 
Yes, to refer those photocopies or, alternatively, a statement issued by the competent services of the SEF proving the period of legal residence in Portugal, and shall submit the Social Security office, copy of current residence permit or a receipt of delivery application for the certificate, valid.
 
Any situation of absence of TN should be communicated in advance to the Social Security office, and as a rule can be absent for a period not less than 30 days. You can also be absent for longer than 30 days, but only if the absence is due to reasons of health, study, vocational training or working relationship that temporarily magazine, which should be properly supported.
 
Assigning NISS presupposes the existence of a relationship with Social Security, namely the existence of an employment relationship. In the case of foreign citizens it is necessary, in addition to an employment contract, the worker to legalize in Portugal, ie residence permit, residence or work permit.
