Elena Casetta is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Philosophy of Science of the Faculty of Science of the University of Lisbon. She has been a post-doctoral researcher at University of Torino (Italy), where she is member of the Laboratory for Ontology (LabOnt). She has been Visiting Scholar at Columbia University, Post-doctoral Fellow at IHPST (Institut d'Histoire et de Philosophie des Sciences et des Techniques), CNRS/Paris 1/ENS, Paris, and Fellow at the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America.
Her areas of specialization are: Philosophy of Biology, Analytic Ontology, and Metaphysics. Elena authored around twenty articles and book chapters in English and Italian as well as the volumes La sfida delle chimere. Realismo, pluralismo e convenzionalismo in filosofia della biologia [The Chimeras' Challenge. Realism, Pluralism, and Conventionalism in Philosophy of Biology], Milano, Mimesis, 2009; and Filosofia della biologia [Philosophy of Biology], Roma, Carocci, 2013.
