CISA_UL is an image archive platform whose aim is to question the very philosopical, scientific and artistic nature of image.

CISA_UL works on the basis of two main commitments: to give special attention to the Portuguese production of images in science and art; and to promote interdisciplinary research with the artistic, scientific and philosofical communities.

We live today under the empire of image. After oral and written words, it seems that image acquires an unprecedented relevance. It dramatically determines our life, both our way of seeing the world and the way of performing our individual and collective existence. Is this a well grounded appreciation? What is the new status of image, if any? And, specifically, in Science and Art?

With a vast team with members from a wide variety of research fields - Philosophy, Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Art, Medicine, Physics, Fine Arts, among others - the Project Image in Science and Art main aim is to question the very scientific, philosophical and artistic nature of image.
