The main objectives of the degree in Technical and Business Translation are:

• To provide basic training directed to the translation activity, in order to develop students’ translational and terminological sensitivity, dexterity and ability.
• To meet business and labour reality needs, by preparing professionals with translation and terminological skills, but also with some knowledge in the areas of IT, management, marketing and law, allowing for a broader and more diversified spectrum of action.
• To train professionals capable of understanding the dynamism, the intercultural complexities, and the demanding criteria of an increasingly global reality, capable of promoting international contacts, offering mediation services in international organizations, intervening in international cooperation processes and development agencies.

   

Intended learning outcomes (knowledge, skills and competences)

• To train professionals of translation with translating skills in pairs of languages that meet the real needs of the market, namely Eng., as a lingua franca, and Ger., a language of reference in the European context;
• To provide the students with advanced knowledge in the area of specialized languages to allow them to face the challenges of a reality which increasingly relies on the specificity of the translators’ knowledge;
• To provide the students with the adequate skills and pace to allow them to face the needs of the work market;
• To convey the dynamics of the business reality to students, so that they can contribute to the optimization of enterprises’ functioning;
• To introduce students to the mechanisms and structure of international institutions to allow them to hold an active part in mediating processes of investment and entrepreneurship;
• To provide the students with the knowledge of technological tools to allow them to face the challenges of today’s reality.
