Nelson Soares is a PhD student in Sustainable Energy Systems at University of Coimbra in the framework of the MIT-Portugal program. He holds a 5-years degree in Civil Engineering (2007) and a master's degree in Civil Engineering in the area of Constructions (2008) from the University of Coimbra. He holds a master's degree in Energy for Sustainability in the specialization area of Indoor Climate and Comfort from the University of Coimbra (2011). He is a researcher member of both the ADAI-LAETA (Portuguese Associated Laboratory) and the ISISE research centers. His research is focused on the study of renewable energy based applications of phase change materials (PCMs) in construction solutions towards the improvement of the energy efficiency of buildings. His research interests include sustainability, light steel framing, thermal behavior and energy efficiency of buildings, passive thermal energy storage systems, numerical modeling of the heat transfer with phase change and dynamic simulation of energy in buildings. Nelson Soares is co-author of several publications (ISI articles and conference papers) in the mentioned topics.
