Meeting of the High Level Group on Internet Governance (June 2010)
- 25/06/2010The High Level Group on Internet Governance (HLIG), an informal group of experts who advise the European Commission, met at the headquarters of the European Commission (the Berlaymont building) in Brussels over a working dinner on 24 June 2010.
The main subjects for consideration at the meeting were: the evaluation and accountability to the Internet community process established by the ICANN – Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers by the Affirmation of Commitments (AOC) signed in September 2009 by the ICANN and the US Department of Commerce; questions related to the IGF – Internet Governance Forum that were examined at the 13th Session of the UN's Commission on Science and Technology for Development, on 17-21 May 2010, and preparation of the meeting of the UN’s ECOSOC - Economic and Social Council; and the possibility of organising a ministerial-level meeting of the ICANN’s GAC – Governmental Advisory Committee.
As usual, Portugal was represented at the meeting by The Knowledge Society Agency (UMIC) , through its President, Luis Magalhães, and the Head of International Relations, Ana Cristina Neves.
