Meeting of the OECD's Information, Computers and Communication Policy Committee (54th session)

OECD logoThe 54th meeting of the OECD’s Information, Computers and Communication Policy Committee (ICCP) was held in Paris on 5 to 7 March 2008. This meeting dealt with the election of the Bureau, the OECD Ministerial Meeting on the Future of the Internet Economy - Shaping Policies for Creativity, Competitiveness and Convergence in the Digital World, to be held in Seoul, Korea, on 17-18 June 2008, accession process to the OECD of Chile, Slovenia, Estonia, the Russian Federation and Israel, the ICCP budget and programme for 2009-2010, the ICCP 2008 Technology Outlook Forum and the 2008 Information Technology Outlook. The Portuguese delegation at this meeting will be headed by the President of The Knowledge Society Agency (UMIC).

The following topics were under examination for the OECD Ministerial Meeting on the Future of the Internet Economy - Shaping Policies for Creativity, Competitiveness and Convergence in the Digital World, to be held in Seoul: protection of critical information infrastructures, access and effective use of public sector information, convergence and next generation networks, competition policy principles for communication services with consumer protection, radio frequency identification policy principles (RFID) and its applications, statistical measuring of the Internet economy, monitoring the development of broadband, Internet address spaces, malware, developing and investment in fibre technologies, public passage rights for fibre dissemination to households.

The Committee for Information, Computers and Communication Policies meeting was preceded by other OECD meetings. In particular, a meeting of the Information Security and Privacy Working Group took place on 3 and 4 October and dealt with such topics as: critical information infrastructures, malware, radio frequency identification (RFID), sensor-based environments, digital identity and management.
