Find out about the Connect Portugal programme’s projects to mobilise the Information and Knowledge Society

The International Information and Communication Technologies Fair (SITIC) is being held from 2nd to 5th November 2006 at the FIL – Parque das Nações, Lisbon. It is for the entire ICT sector and will host a huge array of company and citizen-oriented solutions in three major areas: Multimedia and Business Communications, Systems and Solutions, Equipment and Digital Content.

SITIC marries an area for the general public, with a presentation of the latest products in the sector and thematic spaces, with a professionals-only area, where there will be central stages presenting products and services.

There will be an area publicising projects from the Connecting Portugal programme in Pavilion 2 of the FIL. The Government launched this programme in July 2005 to mobilise the Information and Knowledge Society in Portugal.

This exhibition space is being organised by UCMA – Administrative Modernisation Coordination Unit, as regards eGovernment projects and administrative modernisation, and by Knowledge Society Agency (UMIC), in terms of generally promoting the Information and Knowledge Society in different economic and social sectors, including those schemes promoting regional development in this sector via the digital cities and regions projects running throughout the country. There will also be a significant presence of initiatives using ICT in health and safety.

The public initiative projects under the Connecting Portugal programme will be organised into spaces dedicated to eGovernment for Citizens/Companies and Government/Administration, and spaces set aside for Science, Education, R&D and Innovation in Companies, Infrastructures, Digital Content, Inclusion and Accessibility and Digital Regions and Cities.
