"The Future of Scientific Research in Portugal" Seminar

The “Future of Scientific Research in Portugal” Seminar is being held on 19th October 2007 at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP)’s Foz Campus in Porto in honour of Professor Francisco Carvalho Guerra.

The conference programme includes an opening speech by the President of the Science and Technology Foundation (FCT), João Sentieiro, three panels with interventions from the President of the Lloyd Braga Foundation, Sérgio Machado dos Santos, the President of the Board of Directors of the Innovation Agency, Lino Fernandes, the Administrator of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for Science, Diogo Lucena, Professor Alberto de Castro from the UCP’s Economics and Management Faculty, from the Vice-Director of IBMC – Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Cáudio Sunkel, the Executive Director of IMM – Institute of Molecular Medicine, Carmo Fonseca, the Director of IPATIMUP – Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology, Professor José Joaquim Gomes Canotilho from the University of Coimbra’s Faculty of Law, Professor Fernando Branco from UCP’s Faculty of Economic and Business Science and Professor Francisco Carvalho Guerra, and concludes with a closing speech by the President of the Knowledge Society Agency (UMIC), Luis Magalhães.
