Ambient Assisted Living Associtation logoOn 11 and 12 September 2008, The Knowledge Society Agency (UMIC) ensured the organisation in Lisbon of a meeting of the Working Group to draw up the 2nd call for proposals for the AAL (Ambient Assisted Living) Programme, at the request of the Executive Commission of the AAL Association. This meeting brought together 19 experts from 17 countries.

A final version of the proposal prepared by the meeting will now be drawn up by a smaller working group and then distributed to national representatives of the States which participate in the Programme, and it is foreseen that the final version will be approved at the next General Meeting of the AAL Association, which is to be held in Bonn on 20-21 October 2008.

It is currently envisaged that the 2nd call for proposals of the AAL Programme, on the topic “ICT based solutions for Advancement of Social Interaction of Elderly People”, will be made in January 2009.

The 1st call for proposals, on the topic  “ICT based solutions for Prevention and Management of Chronic Conditions of Elderly People”, was published on 25 April 2008 and applications closed on 21 August 2008.
