Public Tender for Health and Biomedical Research Platform

 - 23/07/2008

Harvard_logotype The Portuguese Government and the Harvard Medical School (HMS) have agreed to assess the potential to collaborate in various areas, including making an informational and educational platform available on medicine, health and biomedical research so as to facilitate access and contribute to increasing the medical literacy of the population in general, and certain specific groups involved in public health within the aforementioned areas.

As such The Knowledge Society Agency (UMIC), using the HMS platform as a reference, wishes to specific, create, implement, coordinate and promote a new information platform for medical, health and biomedical research knowledge in Portuguese, available on the Internet and other means, offering wider access for larger groups from the general public.

Given this, UMIC has launched a Public Tender for the purchase of a technological platform for information and medical, health and biomedical research knowledge, as well as the services to implement and configure the platform, and preventive and corrective maintenance services during the first year, starting with the productive stage, in accordance with the following objectives:

  • Software licensing necessary for the setting up of the technological platform mentioned in the previous section and the corresponding right to updates for one year starting from the productive stage;
  • Providing consultancy, configuration and developmental services necessary to set up the platform and get it up and running;
  • Carrying out any necessary training and on-going support services for one year;
  • Carrying out any preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance services for one year, starting from the productive stage.

The corresponding public announcement in the Portuguese Official Gazette the Diário da República and in the Official Journal of the European Union (text in Portuguese), had to be resent on 23 July 2008, for reasons of a technical nature, requiring a slight alteration in the text sent on the previous day, which led to the alteration of the publication dates by one day, as stated in the previous version (which was published on this website between the morning of the 23 July and the middle of the afternoon of 24 July) and in the announcement made in the Portuguese national daily newspapers of 23 July. The correct dates are of course those which are stated in the public announcement in the Portuguese Official Gazette the Diário da República and in the Official Journal of the European Union (text in Portuguese) as resent on 23 July.
