Strategy and Action Plan for Digital Employability - Message from the Minister for Employment, Solidarity, and Social Security

Digital employability is making its mark in Europe with a high number of created jobs and growing potential. A deficit of 900 000 ICT professionals is estimated in Europe, 2020.

With our high level of unemployment, we cannot let Portugal be one of the European countries that do not take advantage of employment opportunities. We cannot waste any opportunities whatsoever.

Digital skills currently cross all the different activity sectors, and almost all activities, therefore we foresee that, in the short-term, 90% of jobs will require such knowledge.

Therefore, public policies must be involved and adjusted in order to help in the efficiency of economy and enterprises, which is the goal we are aiming at with the Strategy for Digital Employability. And that is the line we are developing with several partners, companies, and entities within a unique strategy.

We intend to solve matters related to jobs and employment opportunities to be achieved by developing qualification processes that will adjust qualifications in-between human resources and productive process and company applicants.

So that, in the future, there will be a higher number of employment, better jobs, and a new flow of the economy.
