Area of scientific activity:
A) Epidemiology of infectious diseases:
Serological Diagnosis and Epidemiological Data Analysis. Responsible of dengue and yellow fever labs at Ezequiel
Dias Foundation, Brazil. In my research, results of immunological testing were combined with epidemiological
data to create a comprehensive database, which was made available to public health authorities in order to control
the impact of epidemics, promote control strategies and optimize health care provision.
B) Mathematical Modeling:
Epidemic models development and data analysis. Presently, my research crosses the different epidemiological
areas of infectious diseases by developing mathematical models which can be used by public health authorities
as a tool to predict, understand the transmission of the disease and develop and evaluate the introduction of
intervention strategies including vector control and vaccination.
Present research interests:
Mathematical modeling applied to infectious diseases:
Development on interdisciplinary research networks, including mathematical models of infectious disease parametrized
in epidemiological data at the national and the international level, with special focus on the study of dengue
fever, and its dynamics systems with in the cultural, social and political environment.
