Fernando Glenadel Braga completed his BSc degree in Chemistry at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and his PhD degree in Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of Porto University.
He is very active in the field of science divulgation, a member of CQVR and Assistant Professor at the Chemistry Department of the UTAD.
He is a well-known expert in the field of winery by-products with several articles, patents and books published.
He began his professional career in the pharmaceutical sector in 1987.
In 1992 he moved to Portugal and joined UTAD.
Between 1993 and 2004, he was a technical consultant to SUBVIDOURO and UNIDOURO.
Between 2003 and 2009 he took part in the direction of the UTAD's Oenology degree, when actively contributed to the drafting of the law which defines the profession of oenologist in Portugal.
Between 2007 and 2009, and since September of 2013 he has been a national expert in CNOIV.
During this period he participated in many studies resulting in the elaboration of the “Guide OIV pour la production durable dans l’industrie des boissons spiritueuses d’ origine vitivinicole” and the most recent analytical specifications for oenological additivesHis teaching interests include the industrial valorization of agro-industrial wastes and its impacts on the environment.
He is currently a technical advisor for Destildouro Lda, the major distillery in the north of Portugal.
