Luís Filipe Pinho Rocha

I am graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biology and with a Master's degree in Ecology from Faculty of Sciences and Technologies at Coimbra University, Portugal. Ecology and habitat use of wild ungulates was the main research area during my graduations. The work performed during my master's was to compare how red deer use different types of feeding habitats (grassland, habitat with ground cover, and montado, typical Mediterranean habitat with cork trees). I have also investigated the effect of the landscape in the space use of the species at these habitats. In 2011, I worked at the Behavioural Ecology Group of the CIBIO (Research Centre of Biodiversity and Genetic Resources from University of Porto, Portugal) in an “Animal Behaviour” project, where it was verified the influence of colour, body fitness and health in the choice of the Serinus serinus reproductive partner. In 2011 I worked at Mathematical Biology Group at Centro de Matemática e Aplicações Fundamentais (CMAF) from Lisbon University, firstly with a FCT fellowship under the project “Dynamics of epidemiological spreading” and then I got a fellowship from the EU project DENFREE, until november 2014. In these projects the subject of my research was to model the influence of the vector of Dengue Fever (Aedes aegypti) on the evolution of the disease. Currently I am PhD student in InBIO (Research Network in Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology) from University of Porto.
