Hugo M. Santos obtained his graduation in Applied Chemistry (2006) and a M.Sc degree (2007) from the University NOVA of Lisbon, in Bio-organic Chemistry. In 2010 he obtained the Ph.D degree in the BIOSCOPE research group at the University NOVA of Lisbon, REQUIMTE (FCT-UNL). He spends short research period (6 moths) in the Turku Centre for Biotechnology, University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University (Finland) and in the Faculty of Science at Ourense Campus, University of Vigo (Spain). Since 2011 he is postdoctoral researcher in the IBB-UAB (Spain), IBB-UTAD (Portugal) and REQUIMTE-FCT-UNL (Portugal). His scientific interests are focused on (i) new methods to speed protein identification by mass spectrometry, (ii) accurate bottom-up protein quantification, (iii) biomarker discovery, (iv) application of MALDI-TOF and MALDI TOF/TOF to the analysis of organic molecules, and (v) MALDI-tissue proteomics and MALDI-Imaging. Nowadays he is author of 25 scientific papers, 4 reviews, 2 proceedings and 3 editorial papers.
