Who can apply for a Post-secondary Specialization Programme at IPLeiria?
- Holders of a secondary school final certificate or a legally equivalent qualification; (1)
- Holders of a technological specialization diploma, of a higher technical professional diploma or of a higher education degree, seeking for professional retraining; (1)
- The ones that were approved previously by the special assessment to evaluate the capacity to attend higher education for applicants over 23, held for the concerned Post-secondary Specialization Programme, under the terms of Decree-Law no. 64/2006, published on March. (2)
(1) The applicants, holders of a secondary school leaving certificate or a legally equivalent qualification, as well as holders of a technological specialization diploma, of a higher technical professional diploma or a higher education degree, do not need to perform admission tests to enter in post-secondary specialization programes.
(2) For the purpose of the application process, only the applications of candidates that have had performed the special assessment to evaluate the capacity to attend higher education for adults over 23, in the last four years, will be considered.
What are the conditions of access and admission?
The applicant’s ranking system is based on a formula with different items:
· Average score at the end of the course;
· Course typology;
· Result of admission test / of test for applicants over 23 [just for candidates of criterion C)]
Application grades are estimated according to these formulas:

In which:
CRITERION A1 – Holders of a secondary school course, with a professional qualification in the same training and education area (CNAEF) of the Post-secondary Specialization Programme for which they apply.
CRITERION A2 – Holders of a secondary school course, in a different training and education area.
CRITERION B – Holders of a high education course and of a technological specialization course.
CRITERION C – The ones that were approved previously by the special assessment to evaluate the capacity to attend higher education for applicants over 23 years old.
Students applying through CRITERION C, above mentioned, must be able to establish proof of admission at Tests for those over 23 years old suitable to the Post-secondary Specialization Programme for which they apply, under the terms of Decree-Law no. 64/2006, published on March, 21.

The application for a Post-secondary Specialization Programme is held exclusively online at: Applications Website
Each application involves three main steps:
- Registration at the Application Website;
- Filling in the application form and online submission of the required documentation;
- Payment of the application fees.
Which documents to submit?
The application is held exclusively online by filling in and submitting the application form.
The filling in the application form involves submitting private information such as identity card and ITIN number (individual Taxpayer Identification number) [display of identity card and ITIN number or citizen card or, alternatively, the copy of these documents).
The following documents must be added when:
Applications follow CRITERION A):
- Secondary school final certificate or a legally equivalent qualification (with average score at the end of the course).
Applications follow CRITERION B):
- A Post-secondary Specialization Programme or a high education course final certificate (with final grade, subjects/units and average score at the end of the course).
Applications follow CRITERION C):
- Supporting document of having performed special assessment to evaluate the capacity to attend higher education for applicants over 23 headed for the Post-secondary Specialization Programme for which they apply, under the terms of Decree-Law no. 64/2006, published on March, 21 (in case these tests have been performed in the last four years).
Charges and Fees
Application – 50,00 € – Existing value in the academic year of 2016-2017
Value of the anual fee – 940,00 € (175,00 € at enrollment + 9 monthly instalments of 85,00 €) – Existing value in the academic year of 2016-2017 and upgradeable for each academic year.

The registration process for the exams of applicants over 23 years old took place between Wednesday 22 March 2017 and Wednesday 05 April 2017.

Readmission Regimes
Readmission regimes applications for Post-secondary Specialization Programmes take place between Tuesday 01 and Friday 11 Aug 2017.
Candidates can apply to readmission regimes cumulatively if:
- They have been enrolled and registered, in the previous academic year, in another Post-secondary Specialization Programmes and have not concluded it;
- They hold a secondary school final certificate or a legally equivalent qualification.
