In my research activity I could get a very good knowledge on the properties of the nuclear matter in extreme conditions.
In particular I have learned and used some of the most important many-body techniques for the study of this particular state
of the matter. Indeed I have studied the neutron star inner crust nuclear matter using several approaches: the semi-classical,
the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) and the Relativistic Mean Field Thomas-Fermi (RMFTF).
These methods have been applied in the calculation of both the inner crust and pasta phase structure, in the study of the
transport properties of the superfluid nuclear matter and in the calculation of the pinning force between a vortex and the
inner crust nuclear lattice for Pulsar Glithces.
Furthermore the participation to several international workshops enabled me to have also a good knowledge about all the properties
of neutron stars that are actually under investigation, i. e. equation of state, supernova explosions, etc.
Actually I am working on three different research activities. First of all, in collaboration with C. Providencia,
we are studying both inner crust and pasta phase structure using a RMFTF approach. The calculation at zero temperature
has been already published, but we plan to accomplish this study with the introduction of both pairing interaction and finite
temperature.
Then, in collaboration with N. Sandulescu, we are studying the superfluid vortices using the HFB approach. We would
like to study how the proton vortices are influenced by neutrons and how neutron vortices are influenced by protons. In
particular we want to calculate the pinning force between the neutron vortex and a single nucleus.
Finally, in collaboration with P. Pizzochero, in the framework of the vortex model for Pulsar Glitches, we are studying
a new physical model for a quantitative calculation of the pinning force per unit length between a vortex and the nuclear
lattice in the inner crust of neutron stars.
