Maria Margarida Ramalho Ribeiro da Costa. Licenciada em Ciências Físico-Químicas pela Universidade de Coimbra, em 1966. Doutorada em Física pela Universidade de Cambridge (U.K.),em 1974, com equivalência ao Doutoramento em Física pela Universidade de Coimbra (especialidade de Física do Estado Sólido) em 1975. Realizou provas de Agregação em 1981. Professora Catedrática do Departamento de Física da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra (FCTUC). Presidente do Departamento de Aquitectura da FCTUC desde 1989 a 1998. Presidente do Departamento de Física da FCTUC desde Maio de 2006 até Setembro de 2009. Coordenadora do CEMDRX de 1997 a 2007 Delegada Nacional junto da International Union of Crystallography. Coordenadora do 3º ciclo de Física no Departamento de Física desde 2012. Orientadora de Estágios Pedagógicos e Doutoramentos em Física. Desenvolve investigação em Física da Matéria Condensada, no domínio da análise estrutural e investigação de propriedades eletrónicas e magnéticas de materiais por difracção de raios-X e de neutrões, no Centro de Estudos de Materiais por Difracção de Raios-X (CEMDRX) da FCTUC.
