We also know that the development of fatigue during exercise and the onset of exhaustion occur earlier in the heat than in cooler environments. Sport performance coaches and practitioners need to have a more comprehensive understanding of the immediate and delayed effects of cryotherapy on functional performance. Herewith, precooling is a popular strategy used to combat the debilitating effects of heat-stress-induced fatigue and extend the period in which an individual can tolerate a heat-gaining environment. Sport Scientists recognize that pre-cooling can increase performance capacity in diverse temperatures and exercise circumstances. This book adresses a range of strategies designed to either reduce the heat load or enable the participant to cope with the debilitating effects of heat stress.

The purpose of the present review was to provide an up-to-date summary of the bio ecological theory in sport literature. Systematic reviews can facilitate decision-making in areas where randomized control trials (RCTs) have not been performed or are inappropriate. In order to appreciate the status of current knowledge and understanding and to identify potential future directions, the authors conducted a synthesis of published work in sports science using a systematic-review methodology. Published since 1977, Bronfenbrenner's model of human development provided an ecological lens for identifying and synthesizing barriers to sport participation. From a search of electronic databases, findings comprised 1120 identified records, from which only 896 entries were considered. From these a total of 183 published studies relating to the bioecological theory and sports science were assessed, and from this point only articles pertaining to sport related issues were taken into consideration (n = 89) excluding other types of documents (n = 94). The Systematic Review (SR)develops upon these 89 articles and a total of 23 articles were selected for the fourth and final retrieval. A semi quantitative review protocol and standard quality assessment criteria-have dominated the research. The authors conclude by summarizing the key findings in the literature and highlighting the gaps that could be filled by future research.

7.	Domingues, M.; Gonçalves, Carlos E; Cavichiolli, Fernando R. 2014. "Sport Coaching Context and Social Organization", Asian Journal of Exercise and Sports Science 10, 2: 1 - 15. The purpose of this study was to examine how coaching context relates to behaviors and attitudes in youth sports; different types of sporting contexts determine different approaches and needs in coaching. Nine coaches from a social and a professional sport setting were interviewed. Methods such as semi-structured interviews and participant observation were used in data collection and data was analyzed through content analysis. Coaches are key aspects to training and their perception of social organizational climate can play an important role in youths’ personal development. The study provides more information about the need to create nurturing environments for talented athletes’ program. The study also stresses the way organization and structure influence the way coaches look at competition and training, highlighting the issue of sport settings as a factor that may distinguish between coaches’ orientations at different contexts. Finally, the sporting context and its relation to developing skills were analyzed. The current results have implications for both coaching youth sport and for the educational programs of these coaches in other countries and sport systems.

8.	Domingues, M.. 2014. "Growth and functional development in 6 to 10 year old footballers: Constraints and Possibilities", Annals of Applied Sport Science 1, 4: 5 - 16. Sport and more specifically football is an important asset in youth lives. It is widely considered that biological maturity influences physical performance. Relationships between body size and performance are partly confounded by age. In fact, age is positively associated to strength and motor performance, even when height and weight are controlled. Studies on young footballer have been started to consider the potential impact of variation on growth and biological maturity status upon sport-specific football skills. Some authors suggest that physical training should have a low priority until the late puberty and then the time could be devoted to other types of training such as focusing on technical aspects. However, the question remains that is this due to low trainability or inadequacies of training programs? A brief review of the literature was conducted with three specific exclusion criteria including the age of footballers, relation of age with performance, and studies on football. There are critical periods in the life of a young person, in which the effects of training can be maximized. Thus, a special attention should be paid to developing football skills by regarding the performance and full respect to youth development. Many papers have been published on functional capacities and dimensions in pre-adolescence and adolescence, but less information are available concerning the ages between 6 and 10. Hence, this paper aims to highlight some aspects of this age period and provide an understanding of important aspects of growth, development, and maturation is particularly important, as a youngster’s football performance may depend heavily on gender and biological age and state.

9.	Domingues, M.; Gonçalves, Carlos E. 2014. "Talent Development and Ecology of Practice in a Professional Club.", European Journal of Science in Society 11, 3: 277 - 298. This study attempts to explore sport participation, dominant relationships and contextual influences in a professional environment through the perspective of social actors’ within the club. Participant observation, semi-structured interviews alongside with field diary were the instruments used to assess how the interpersonal context; competitive environment and the organisational structure impact on youth sports participation. This study has demonstrated a twofold reality, how weak organisation and good coaching create a climate that has direct implications on youth sports participation. Indeed, results show that youth competitive climate and the search for status recognition, desire and uncertainty of professionalisation are the main characteristics of this environment. Researchers also acknowledged the fact that the main relationships carried out in these environments are the coach-athlete dyad in a way to foster a more pronounced mastery climate. Coach and parents are important positive assets in talent development, as well as the overall organisation. Significant others perceive the athletes’ competitive and professional disposition to train, to compete and in a constant search for sport performance. These results suggest new avenues of research in the way of youth sports talent management and the search for sports contextual change agents. Implications for applied practitioners and researchers are explored.
