Ana Batista was granted with the Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra in September 2010. In September 2013 she enrolled the Biomedical Engineering PhD programme from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra. She is a researcher at the Institute of Biomedical Research in Light and Image (University of Coimbra, Portugal) since May 2011, and has been working at the Department of Biophotonics and Laser Technology (University of Saarland, Germany) since March 2013 under the FCT project to which she is associated (PTDC/SAU-ENB/122128/2010). Her major interests relate to the Medical Engineering field, with special focus for functional imaging of ocular structures. She is currently attempting on functional imaging of corneal tissues resorting to multiphoton microscopy techniques, e.g Two-Photon Excitation Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy, Second- and Third-Harmonic Generation. Her work already resulted in participation in several scientific meetings, as well as 5 scientific paper publications and 7 conference proceedings publications. Ana Batista also has a laser safety officer certificate, issued by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Karsten Koenig, and accreditation by Direção Geral de Alimentação e Veterinária (DGAV), to use laboratory animals for experimental ends.
