Anabela Fernandes graduated in Biochemistry by the University of Porto in 2003 and completed a PhD degree in Health Sciences by the University of Minho in 2010. The work developed by Anabela Fernandes during his PhD was performed in the Neurosciences domain at ICVS with the major goal to developed and characterized new transgenic mouse models for Machado-Joseph disease (MJD). She published 13 scientific articles and currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher in the Neurosciences domain at ICVS dedicated to the study of the pathogenic mechanism of MJD as well as the development of pre-clinical trials for MJD using a transgenic mouse model.
