From Grooming to Speaking

Accommodation and travel

Participants are advised to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements. The University of Lisbon is very close to both the airport and the city center. From the airport, or from the city center, a taxi ride to the university will maximally cost 10 euro, and it will take about 10-15 minutes.

Public transport is very cheap, and we especially recommend the subway for travelling inside the city. The airport does not have a subway station, but provides public buses that drop you off in the city center.

When you book your hotel, choose locations close to the city center, and opt for staying in areas or near sights such as: Rossio, Marquis de Pombal, Chiado, Restauradores, Jardim Zoologico (the Zoo), Praca d' Espanha, Gulbenkian, Campo Pequeno. All are located at maximally 20 minutes away from the university.

Avoid Cascais, Costa da Caparica, Ericeira, Estoril, Sesimbra and Sintra. These are regions that are part of great Lisbon, and require 1 to 2 hours of travel (from university or the center). Inside the city, avoid places such as Pavilhão Atlântico, Oceanarium, Belem, Carcavelos, because traffic can get tight, and so these regions are at least 30 minutes away from university. All are beautiful sites for sightseeing though.
