Miguel Morgado Santos is conducting a Ph.D. in Ethology by the University of Lisbon. He is conducting the project “A new approach to the understanding of the dynamics and evolutionary success of Squalius alburnoides complex: the role of behavior”, under the supervision of Maria João Collares-Pereira and Luís Vicente. Miguel Morgado-Santos’ Ph.D. project aims are:
a) Assessing the role of hybrid female mate preferences in routing populations towards hybrid speciation;
b) Evaluating the role of oocyte allocation, fertilization rate and offspring survival in shaping the genomotype composition of S. alburnoides natural populations;
c) Assessing the role of mate choice in driving introgression between parental species.
