Human biomonitoring (HBM) uses human samples (blood, urine, hair, etc.) to collect data in order to assess human exposure to chemicals, to better understand the associated effects and health impacts and improve the risk assessment. It can inform authorities on measures to reduce exposure to toxic chemicals and give guidance on medical treatment.

(FCT), Instituto Nacional de Saúde Dr. Ricardo Jorge, I.P. (INSA), Direção Geral de Saúde (DGS) and Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente, I.P. (APA), in partnership with Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de Lisboa (FMUL) and Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde Lisboa (ESTeSL), Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa.
