Research infrastructures are strategically relevant in generating environments and synergies in which top quality research may thrive. FCT wishes to support research infrastructures (RI) of strategic interest, to underpin scientific and technological advances and bolster the capacity of the R&D&I community in Portugal to be an active member of European and international projects.
Towards this goal, a call for Research infrastructures (RIs) to be included in the National Roadmap of Research Infrastructures of Strategic Relevance was launched in 2013. This call aligned Portugal with the European Strategic Forum on Research Infrastrucutres (ESFRI), that was set up in 2002, and created the first Roadmap of Research Infrastructures (updated in 2008 and 2010). The FCT call mapped and assessed the existing research infrastructures, identified national priority areas and introduced Portugal into the group of European countries who have produced their own national roadmaps.
The 40 selected research infrastructures are included in the publication "Portuguese Roadmap of Research Infrastructures" to be presented in this session. It will be an opportunity to discuss the implementation of the infrastructures and to address national and European funding opportunities for research infrastructures, between 2014 and 2020.
Registrations open until 12 December.
