  Introduction
  Mission
  The mission of the FCT Technology Office is to enhance knowledge transfer
  between academic R&D and industry by bringing together and developing
  programmes that strengthen the links between those sectors.
  Objectives
  The Technology Office’s main objectives are to bolster the competiveness and
  international visibility of Portuguese science, with the specific aim of
  promoting knowledge transfer between Portuguese R&D centres and the
  business sector. To reach these objectives, the Technology Office:
  - Initiates new knowledge transfer activities to the business sector, and
  monitors existing activities, to enhance economic impact of public investment
  in R&I (Research and Innovation);
  
- Liaises with all stakeholders involved in knowledge-based value creation,
  namely companies, business organisations, Hubs, Clusters, the Institute for
  Support for Small and Medium Enterprises (IAPMEI), the National Institute of
  Industrial Property (INPI), technology transfer offices, as well as
  international organisations such as the European Space Agency (ESA), the
  European Southern Observatory (ESO), the European Organization for Nuclear
  Research (CERN), the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) and
  International Partnerships (MIT - Portugal Program, CMU - Portugal, UT Austin
  - Portugal, Harvard Medical School and Fraunhofer - Portugal - Portugal)
  
- Assesses and report on the impact of the programmes under its
  responsibility (International Partnerships, Eurostars, Eureka, ILO –
  Industrial Liaison Office, Technology Transfer).
