ERA-MIN is an ERA-NET network on the Industrial Handling of Raw Materials for European Industries, supported by the European Commission's 7th Framework Programme and started on November 2011 for 4 years. It is aimed at coordinating research funding programmes to foster research in the field of sustainable supply of raw materials for European industries, in line with the «EU Raw Materials Initiative».
ERA-MIN focuses on the issues related to the three segments of the non-energy Raw materials: metallic minerals, industrial minerals and construction minerals. The topics addressed by ERA-MIN cover the entire raw materials value chain: from primary to secondary resources, substitution of critical elements, as well as cross-cutting issues like the mitigation of environmental impacts and raising public awareness.
To achieve the objectives, ERA-MIN is conducting three main activities:
The activities and the main goals of ERA-MIN continued to be pursued in ERA-NET cofund ERA-MIN 2 – Research & Innovation Programme on Raw Materials to foster Circular Economy and currently on ERA-MIN 3. For more information please consult the page dedicated to ERA-MIN 3.
The third ERA-MIN JOINT CALL on Sustainable Supply of Raw Materials in Europe (2015) was open in December 2014.
The scope of this Call is needs-driven research. Both basic and applied research projects will be funded, provided that the proposed research clearly demonstrates potential to contribute to securing a sustainable supply of non-energy raw materials for the European industries.
The topics and sub-topics to be funded address all aspects of the raw materials value chain: primary resources, secondary resources (recycling) and substitution of critical raw materials, as described in detail at the ERA-MIN Research Agenda.
Consortia involving both academic and industrial organizations are particularly encouraged to apply even though pure academic or pure industrial consortia are also eligible.
The financial commitment of FCT in all topics of this call is 500.000 Euros
The funding for the portuguese participation in one transnational proposal of 36 months duration is limited to:

Stakeholders with interests in Call 2015 are invited to present project ideas in any of the three scientific domains of the call. The deadline for conference registration (free of charge) is 15 February 2015 . Accommodation is supported by ERA-MIN. Registration and meeting agenda are available at the link: "http://www.era-min-eu.org/news/126-era-min-stakeholder-conference-berlin".
A database of profiles from many European countries in NMP- Nanotechnology, Materials and Production Technologies area is available that can help in the search of partners: "NMP partner search tool".
To enable networking and quick dissemination of information on ERA-MIN Joint Calls, the ERA-MIN Transnational Call Office created the ERA-MIN Joint Call LinkedIn Group. Join this group for discussions concerning the current ERA-MIN Call.
ERA-MIN does an international evaluation of eligible submitted proposals. In case you are interested to become an evaluator in ERA-MIN Joint Calls, please send an expression of interest and CV in English to eramin@m2i.nl
